SUMMARY:18th International Summer School on Immunology
DESCRIPTION:FEBS Advanced Lecture Course\nImmune System: Genes\, Receptors and Regulation\nSeptember 12-19\, 2015\nRabac\, Croatia \nThe summer school gives students a deeper insight into the basic knowledge of and novel development in immunology. \nEach teacher holds two lectures\, one is a more general talk focusing on the state-of-art of a particular scientific field and the second lecture specializes on the current research project of her/his laboratory. \nThe venue of this year’s Summer School is the Valamar Bellevue Hotel & Residence\, Rabac Bb\, Rabac\, Croatia. \nThe lectures take place in the morning from 9 to 12:00 am and in the late afternoon from 4 to 8:30 pm. The afternoons are free for discussions or swimming. At 4:00 pm two groups of students meet with a teacher for informal discussions somewhere outside or at the beach. \nOn two evenings during the meeting there will be a poster session where the students can present and discuss their own work. There will be a farewell party on the last day. \nThis course is organized in such a way as to allow maximal interactions of the students between each other and with the faculty. The faculty is therefore asked to stay in Rabac throughout the meeting.

SUMMARY:4th European Congress of Immunology
DESCRIPTION:The 4th ECI will cover all fields of modern immunology and adhere to a 4-track structure covering the topics innate immunity\, adaptive immunity\, diseases of the immune system and immune interventions. The 4-track program will streamline symposia\, workshops as well as poster sessions enabling easy crosstalk between topics and types of sessions planned. In fact\, novel forms of immune interventions represent one of the most exciting success stories of modern medicine. Thus\, a special focus of the 4th ECI will be put on the fine balance between basic and applied/translational research. Delegates will be offered 150+ talks by invited speakers\, plenary lectures by ‘immunology icons’\, more than 400 oral presentations selected from abstracts\, as well as guided poster walks. A special emphasis will be devoted to the education of our young scientists and students. In addition\, the 4th ECI will be embedded into a number of satellite meetings dealing with related topics.

In fünf Großzelten und auf einer Aktionsfläche präsentieren insgesamt 58 Aussteller aus der Universität\, dem Universitätsklinikum\, aus den Hochschulen und Forschungseinrichtungen sowie Firmen aus der Region ihre Forschungsarbeit einer breiten Öffentlichkeit. Anhand von interaktiven Exponaten erklären sie dabei\, mit welchen Themen sich Wissenschaft und Forschung befassen. Ein umfangreiches Bühnenprogramm bietet mit Vorträgen\, Science Shows\, Poetry Slams und viel Musik zusätzliche Unterhaltung rund um das Thema Wissenschaft.

SUMMARY:1st Erlanger Berg Colloquium - Landmark Discoveries in Immunology
DESCRIPTION:This will be the first colloquium within a series of lectures in immunology for graduate stu- dents and faculty.  \nThe colloquium is embedded in the Bergkirchweih\, which is considered to be the fifth season of the year in Erlangen. This is the time that Erlangen comes alive not only with immunology but also with noise\, bustle and people. Kicking back\, letting lose and dancing on the tables is heartily encouraged.  \nThe Bergkirchweih or Der Berg (as the locals call it) is so called due to its location on a hill. This hill houses numerous cellars which were and still are partially used by brewers to store beer barrels since the conditions are perfect. Once a year on the first Thursday before Pentecost one of the biggest outdoor beer gardens in Europe opens its doors\, or rather its seats\, to the public.
